In previous proposals, I spend a large amount of time on demonstrating the ponderance of family effects in curbing a low-age trend to smartphone addiction. I ever thought, compare with children, adults need to take on more responsibility to this trend of smartphone using, who also have an obligation to teach their children riding off their smartphone addiction, so I decided adults as the main audience of this project, and gave out a strategy about “encourage adults teaching their children stay away from smartphone” in order to achieve the goal of curbing the low-age trend to smartphone addiction.

In some respects, this inference is a feasible plan to solve this social issue, but “educate kids through their parents” way cannot guarantee the quality of results. At best, it is a circuitous mechanism to achieve the goal, which seems like fitting my idea pretty well, but actually push this problem back to adults. The principal audience of this project should be “low-age” teenagers, if final outcomes lost affinity to main audience, there is no doubt that the consequence of this subject will be failed.

For fix this improper standing, I dropped the original plan about making propaganda poster, pay more attention on teenagers and younger children, give more consider to teenagers’ acceptability.

I plan to design a group of cards which have better mobility than poster and be able to carry with. Cards are easier be ignored than poster, so, at first, the final design outcomes should be different from the ordinary card, which also be able to grow people’s interests, especially catch children’s attention. Second, this group of cards should be able to collect, in order to make people keeping these cards longer and finding more cards consciously. In third, the material of card should be abrasion resistant and water, dust proof, and edges & corners will not cut skin.

About Icon: To cater to “a soft positive energy passing” requirements, I decided to use pause mark to give a message like “pause your smartphone then pay more attention on others” to people.

About Card Design: I plan to use 2-card-set which will be able to compose to a pause mark on one of two cards. I will design 4 sets of cards, put in coffee shop or restaurant as gift, and build card rack by the road or in bus station. All types of cards will be mixed, people can read the slogan on a single card, and also be able to find another corresponding one in somewhere if interest in, combine them together then gain more information from cards set. The patterns on cards might be hand-drawing style illustrations or color collages which are encourage people reduce use of smartphone. ("patten" just wrong writing in sketch, they are all "pattern")

About Mascot: Just several ideas for making this project be memorable, have plan about using mascot deepen people’s impression to this issue, and, of course, cater to kids’ tastes and catch their attention.
